Fostering its culture of dynamism, in the year 1998, “Master in Finance and Accounting” (MFA), was conceived. MFA is a unique, highly specialized, self-financed course, with a sharp focus on finance. The unique feature of the course is that besides the esteemed commerce faculty, it also involves teaching from professionals who have worked for years in their relevant fields, thus adding a practical edge to the students' education.
MFA Programme
The Master of Finance and Accounting ( MFA ) is a two year post-graduate programme designed to meet the changing challenges of business for the next millennium. Designed as a super specialty course, MFA has strong conceptual and practical inputs. The programme is being run on a semester basis.

The Objectives of the Programme
a)To develop the students so as to have a comprehensive view of the financial sector.
b)To equip them to use complex methodologies and tools for analyzing the data to support managerial decisions.
c)To make them understand the impact, the influence of ethical, political, social, legal, environmental, and global issues on the organization.
Who can Apply
Self Financing Course Candidates having Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Commerce/Accounting/ Management/Economics of this University or any other recognized university and who have secured at least 50% marks in the aggregate of all papers studied in the qualifying examinations are eligible for admission to this course.
Admission Procedure
Admissions is based on an entrance test conducted by the university. Marks scored at the test and qualifying examination is considered for the final selection. To maintain the quality and standard the student intake is limited to only 40 per year.
Applications are issued after the BU degree results are declared, and the academic year is from August to June.

Scope of the Programme
The students after completing the course are working as financial consultants, financial analysts, bankers, insurers, forex dealers, software consultants, HR professionals, finance and accounting professionals, investment analysts, market analysts, direct and indirect tax consultants, and a host of other professional bodies.
Infrastructure
The department has excellent class rooms, each room being equipped with modern teaching aids. It has a well furnished seminar hall, audio-Visio room, and a computer lab equipped with the state of the art facilities. |
Library
The department has a well developed book bank stacked with more that 3000 volumes covering all functional areas of finance, accounts and management. It subscribes to more than 20 professional research journals of national and international repute, business magazines and dailies.
Pedagogy
The teaching methods are designed to transform the students into competent professionals for financial sector. Innovative teaching methods such as business games, cases analysis, role plays, group discussions, panel discussions, seminars and surveys are extensively used. Experts from corporate sector are associated in all these programmes. Thus a good blend of conceptual skill and practical insight is being provided. |

Project Work
During the fourth semester, each student shall be required to take up a research study in the area of financial sector, and prepare a report under the guidance of a faculty member. This will help improve one’s analytical skills, besides enabling him or her bridge the gap between conceptual knowledge and practical application.
Internship Training
Training is an integral part of learning in order to get a feel of the functioning of a typical organization. The students are required to undergo internship training for a period of 4-6 weeks after completion of the second semester to submit a report to the chairman of the Department at the end of the training period based on his / her experience.

Comvision – A Knowledge and Cultural Fest
The Department conducts an annual event / fest bringing in the best of talents from across the country. The specialty of this event is that the entire event is fully managed by the student’s council. This event is a blend of knowledge and cultural extravaganza spanning across two days.
